| 604390 | 2007-10-22 20:54:00 | I have 2 PC's, a Win 98 m/c and a Win XP m/c in two different rooms, separated by about 6m and connected by Ethernet cable. I want to replace the cable (it runs across the floor and is a nuisance) with a wireless connection. If I install a wireless card (or wireless USB) in each PC is this sufficient, or do I need a wireless router/access point also. All help much appreciated. KB. | kbcad (1025) | ||

What are you on? dialup? broadband? There are USB adapters that can also act as AP's as well. I've got 2 such USB adapters here. |

It is easier with a access point but its nothing that cant be overcome with a little bit of perseverance, it may be worth reading some reviews to see the quality of wireless management software provided with the different cards as I imagine 98's support is pretty craptasic. I dont think the original 98 supports USB 2.Windows 98 doesn't even support USB 1 if my memory serves me right. |
