BIOS setting - wake on modem. Set it to disable.

BIOS is the Basic Input Output System. It's the first screen you get when you boot up the computer - usually you have to press the delete key while it is checking memory etc - but it will say on that first screen which key to press. If you keep missing it, just press control/alt/delete (which will force a reboot - and do it before the OS0 starts to load) until you can read which key to press - then press it as that first screen comes up.

Then you'll enter BIOS. Only the keyboard will work in BIOS - so navigate through the menus with the arrow keys and select with the "Enter" key.

604376 2007-10-23 04:17:00 It's terrible when the computer does exactly what it has been told to do, isn't it? Scary. :D Graham L (2)

It is very scary when it suddenly starts obeying orders after ignoring them all it's life :badpc: I've been there before with wake on LAN.
