You can pick them up for less than $20. Good advice! The more I look into it the wiser it seems to forget about a USB connection and just use the newer computer with ethernet. Thanks for your help. |

| 604674 | 2007-10-25 22:24:00 | If I get a 4 port ADSL modem Router can I attach a suitable cable to one port and attach directly to USB 1 . 1 socket on the pc? I'd use another port for the ethernet connection to the newer computer . For USB broadband connection do you need a special driver or does it work by just connectibg up? Many 4-port routers come with an additional USB port so that you can use a USB cable to connect to a PC that does not have an ethernet card . If you get one of these routers then yes, you will be able to connect the older computer to the router via USB cable . The router will come with a driver that will need to be installed for your Windows 98 computer . You will then be able to use both computers on the network and internet . However, the USB connection may be less reliable than with an ethernet connection . |

No, threads do not get closed, even when the issue appears to be resolved as more information can and often does get added later . Hopefully a moderator will merge this thread with your other one as both contain information important to your issue . Until then it would be a good idea to check each for new replies . |
