604404 2007-10-23 03:39:00 Clearly if another plan will guarantee faster speed it means my line should be able to get faster broadband on Go Large. Is this a case for "Fair Go", "Consumers guarantee Act" or just bite my tongue and change to Xnet. Will probably just explore the options of another ISP.

No ISP can guarantee that you would get top speed all the time. A lot has to do with internet traffic / time of day for example.

If you still want to use your mail from Xtra as incomming only, thats easy to set up.
In your mail account simply keep the Xtra details, and with the new account from Xnet set it to the default account.
This will allow any mails from xtra to come in but be sent and recieved Via Xnet as well.
I have set a couple up like that, in fact I'm with telstra Cable, I have an Xtra account and my main mail is Telstra( paradise) Any mail from Xtra comes in fine.

Presumably the xtra account is kept alive for email address purposes only. Can this be a dial up or does it need to be a BB account.

My main email account is with Telstra Cable ( High Speed), formally Saturn, formally Paradise:lol:
I have a dial up account with xtra & Paradise for testing customers connections as sometimes they don't know their passwords, so they are used as a "known working account", I also have the dial up incase I want to use my lappy and no high speed is available, and for testing purposes to see if a problem is with either the customers Location or Xtra or Telstra.
Many times when xtra wont connect and I have rung them, they say its the persons PC, yet they soon listen when I say "a Paradise dial up works fine" Xtra wont - problems with xtra.

The email is setup on my Office PC with Paradise as default, and xtra as a well errrr Extra  See Here (www.imagef1.net.nz).

604408 2007-10-23 04:52:00 You used to only be able to check xtra email through webmail if you are using another ISP, but I believe with the bubble changes, you can now check your email from your desktop email client using any ISP.

You will probably still need a dialup account at least to keep the email address active.

604409 2007-10-23 05:41:00 I have just checked yahoo bubble and it seems that there is a function for forwarding emails to another address. As long as I have a email account with xtra (and this will be the cheapest dial up plan) I should be able to receive my xtra address emails from another ISP. xtra will definitely be an EXTRA account.

Agree entirely.

604410 2007-10-23 06:43:00 You can keep your e-mail account with no internet plan for $2.50 a month. spaceman8815 (4112)
604411 2007-10-23 06:45:00 And if they're like Ihug, they'll keep your old email / username open till the end of the next month.

I finished with Ihug on 28/9, its still open till 28/10.

And they'll charge you for the extra month anyway.

Whether you use/ like it or not.
