604878 2007-10-24 08:39:00 Hi all,

We have TelstraClear residential cable BB and it works well - when it works .

In the last few months service has been cutting out (is this happening to everyone on TC?), and not all lights on the modem are blinking . Normally it is like this:

o
o
o
o
o (this one blinks)

BUT . . . recently the orange flashing light (indicating data transfer) has not been lighting up, indicating a break in the connection to the internet somewhere along the line (which means no Internet for me!) .

Most of the time, all 4 green LEDS and the orange one are doing their thing, which means it works and we're all hunky-dorey .

However, every now and again, the internet service cuts out . The bottom 3 green LEDs cut out and take their time regaining a connection (last night it was down for ~1 hr) The green LEDs seem to work their way up, lighting from the top to the bottom (takes about 5-10 min for each LED to light up), but when it gets to the one above the orange one, it blinks and the orange one will not light up .

Is this a problem at my end or at TC's? Should I be worried that it's cutting out so frequently (~ once a week on average at the moment)? Is there anything I can do to stop it cutting out when I'm using the 'net?

Any help is appreciated!

PS See Here ( . simplehelp . net/images/cable_modems/motorola_sb5100 . gif" target="_blank">www . simplehelp . net) for a piccy of my modem - only difference is that the flashing LED is orange on mine, not green .
