| 606004 | 2007-10-28 07:06:00 | I am trying to work out if it is something wrong with my modem, wire in my house (as it was splited into two lines) or slow broadband connection in my area . I am using xtra, Go Large (no longer exist, but Telecom said it is up to 3 . 5Gb . I am in Dannemora near Botany Town Centre . Wondering what type of speed you are experiencing - I use . net and can only achieve only up to 3000kb/s . " target="_blank">speedtest . net and can only achieve only up to 3000kb My friend in Howick with xtra and same plan can achive up to 6200kb/s . I just need more info to work out if it is speed in general so I can be sure it is the "splitted line" that I have at home . . . |

| 606005 | 2007-10-28 09:08:00 | Can't help, but when I lived in Dannemora 6 years ago I couldn't even get ADSL. Perhaps the newer developments have more complient exchanges. | Greg (193) | ||

Getting 3000kb/s is dam good!, what do you get when you try & download a large file can you get up to 300KiloByte/sec? Because I hear speeds on the Go Large plan are shocking - people have been complaining about them for a long time . It depends on who you talk to & what there exchange is like & what they use eg if they use p2p a lot etc . . . I am also on Xtra Go Large & on a good day I get 300 KB/s! |

You should consider yourself lucky, there no way in hell you'll ever get near what Telecom says is theoretically possible so getting 3mbit when telecoms says 3 . 5mbit is available is damm good! |

| 606010 | 2007-10-29 16:37:00 | I downloaded a 5 gig file yesterday . It was in three sections so I was downloading ,in effect, three files simultaneously . They all started at over 359KBPS at 4-30 pm . The final one finished at just after 7 pm, downloading at about 90 KBPS . To me, waiting impatiently, it seemed slow . Any comments . BTW I am in Rotorua , about 6 Kms from exchange . With xnet . |
