605706 2007-10-27 02:06:00 HP computer speakers - 2 seperate speakers joined up to one cord - one end of the cord is green and im guessing it goes in the plug where it's always gone on the front or back of computer. the powerpoint part of normally goes into powerpoint and u can plug the other end into back of one of the speakers (have had this set up for about a year with no probs) recently moved house and finally getting around to setting up speakers and when i plug in the part thats attached to the power supply - the speakers turn on but theres a realy bad buzzing/static noise and cant hear any audio

any ideas?
its prob something simple - im hoping it is. but if not are they broken?? (they were working fine up until the move)

605707 2007-10-27 02:15:00 Also - if i do need new ones - anyone got any recomendations? i'd say these would be the basic ones - they came with the PC. but i wouldnt mind some with a bit more oomph! (and also that i could plug my Ipod into possibly)..... amesmmm (12965)
605708 2007-10-27 02:30:00 ONE MORE thing - it starts making that noise even if speaker is "turned off" ie as soon as i plug in power thingee. (gosh im sorry i dont know all the technical language!!) i desperately want to watch that guys world cup with john key and the speakers aren't letting me! please help :) amesmmm (12965)
605709 2007-10-27 02:44:00 Any set of 2 speakers will work with an Ipod.

But if you want a dock, you'll need one of these (search.dse.co.nz 6dc&site=&w=ipod+speakers&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=Go)

605710 2007-10-27 06:25:00 SO no one got any ideas why might be doing this?? amesmmm (12965)
605711 2007-10-27 06:32:00 Nup, unless you've got a mic or something plugged in as well.

And its causing feedback.

Are they magnetically shielded?

605713 2007-10-27 06:38:00 Might be dodgy power points / power.

Try another power point / power adapter thingy.

605714 2007-10-27 07:20:00 I had this problem once, a loud buzzing sound, when I tried to plug in a speaker lead that I made up myself. It was caused by the two wires inside the connector touching each other. This may be your problem. gradebdan (2186)
605715 2007-10-27 08:04:00 Try moving the speaker wires so they don't touch any other wires and also move the speakers around a bit themselves. It could be electrical interference. Jen (38)
