2007-10-26 07:26:00 | A while ago I had a problem networking my two computers while running ZA on the host. Thankfully there are those much more clever than I and so I was able to cure the problem. Thank you Wainuitech. It was thought by some that the ICS with the same two computers may not work. It does, but I have the same problem with ICS as I had with the networking. ICS works fine when ZA is not running on the host, so ZA will not allow the second computer, my laptop, to access the internet. Perhaps the two problems have a similar solution? Roscoe.

2007-10-26 07:31:00 | You have to pay for ZA to get the ICS option. So you can enable it. Thats one of the limitations, of the free version. So networked computers can get on the net. If youre going to use ZA on the main computer. ICS will work with 98 SE / 2k / XP. With or without ZA. It doesnt matter what version of Windows is on the main PC / or the networked PC's. Just as long as all of the PC's have been configured properly, all will work on a network, and get on the net.

2007-10-26 08:21:00 | the other way around it is to use a proxy instead of ICS. there is a few free proxys. analogX makes a basic one. | tweak'e (69) | |
2007-10-26 08:43:00 | thats exactly what I was about to say........i've used analogx's 'proxy' program plenty of times and it's excellent and very simple to setup and configure. It DOES work with ZA ........just allow the ip of the client pc in network settings in ZA.... | drcspy (146) | |
2007-10-26 19:07:00 | Thanks guys, I have not heard of a proxy programme so I did a search and came up with the programme. It says it will do just what I want. The main reason I want ICS is the satisfaction of being able to accomplish something that I have been told I am not able to because of my limited knowledge - and besides, the missus often wants to use the net at the same time as I do, so guess who has to give up their seat? You are all so very helpful. Most appreciated. Roscoe

2007-10-26 20:49:00 | I found in my networking thread that not only did I need to add each ip to ZA but also to add the subnet as well | gary67 (56) | |
2007-10-26 21:02:00 | That would be for the network not ICS (getting the networked pc on the net). | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
| 605575 | 2007-10-27 02:15:00 | Thanks for your suggestions. I downloaded and installed AnalogX and then read the instructions. Fine for someone who understands but it meant little to me. I had other jobs (SHE SAID) so off I went. One thing I did understand was that if the icon in the tray was red it was not configured so I thought I would have a look at it later. When I returned the icon was green so I imagined it had magically configured itself. It seems that they may have had a talk to each other and it works! Me? I'm happy. Thanks, guys. Very helpful.
