2007-10-25 04:54:00 | Hi, i just purchased a new Antec 900 case with four fans installed, i want to run the fans without a motherboard of a Dell/Foxconn Model PS-5201-7D. My friend said i might need to join two wires together from the PSU, if so what ones? Regards mustang14a

2007-10-25 05:09:00 | I'm new to this stuff what are mobo fan headers, are they the 4 pin connecters? Not to put too fine a point on it - but you should read your motherboard book first. This will tell you where to plug in your case fans. If you are really new to the inside of a computer case, a forum may not be the best place to go for instructions.

The molex plugs are 4 pin yup, the wires/cables that are coming from the power supply . But the only way you're going to connect these fans is if you connect them to the mobo (altho the motherboard may not have 4 of them) . Or you'll have to buy adapters (if the fans you've got have 3 pins on one end of them, so its got the 3 pin socket on one end and a molex connector on the other end) . So, you can plug them into a molex plug/connector . |

2007-10-25 05:13:00 | Sorry for the confusion | mustang14a (11787) | |
2007-10-25 05:13:00 | Well, you CANT connect them directly to the PSU . You connect them to the molex connectors coming from the PSU . Like I said in my previous post .

2007-10-25 05:16:00 | ok, i have those connecters on psu i plugged them in and then turned on psu but nothing happened | mustang14a (11787) | |
2007-10-25 05:23:00 | That depends on what kind of connection is on the end of those fans . If theyre 3 pin then yup, you have to buy the socket 3 pin to molex adapter . If you dont want to connect the fans to the motherboard . Or if theyve got the molex connector, just plug them into the molex connectors coming from the PSU .
