| 605705 | 2007-10-30 09:20:00 | The fix by "Agent 24" worked. It takes about 10 minutes so must do a full scan of the partition which is NTFS. It does not hide anything, it repairs it! They're right though - windows doesn't often run chkdsk for no reason. I would be checking the drive's SMART status, and running a full scan of the drive with the manufactures tool (Seatools if you have a seagate drive) just incase there is a problem somewhere. Best to find out any problems now, to save trouble later on. As for having backups on a separate partition: only good if any problem is software. if your drive dies for no reason your backup partition will be lost as well, I strongly recommend a separate drive, at least you're clever enough to actually have a backup of some sort though - most people don't |
