605135 2007-10-25 05:24:00 You need to short the PSU and trick it into thinking theres a motherboard connected. Pretty sure you just need to run a wire between the green and black wires on the 24pin ATX header, would pay to Google and double check before you do it. Pete O'Neil (6584)
605136 2007-10-25 05:25:00 ah i connected yellow and black wire on 20 pin atx header because there was no green, is that the wrong colour? mustang14a (11787)
605137 2007-10-25 05:31:00 I would wait till you get the mobo and someone (if you dont know how to) installs it, and connects the wires etc.

Or you may not have a PSU if you do something wrong now.

605138 2007-10-25 05:33:00 Doesnt matter about the psu, its an old one. mustang14a (11787)
605139 2007-10-25 05:52:00 I'm not worried about the PSU, you could blow something up, inc the house! Speedy Gonzales (78)
605140 2007-10-25 06:00:00 thanks for your help it working now mustang14a (11787)
605141 2007-10-25 06:28:00 It is not smart to play with a PSU if you do not know what you are doing, yellow cables in all the PSUs I have here mean +12VDC and if you connect one of these to the black (ground) it shorts the PSU and is not good for it.

That said I have got a PSU running here without a mobo, by shorting two pins on the 20 pin mobo connector.
