605953 2007-10-28 04:15:00 I am hoping someone out there can help me???

I am thinking about going broadband as I currently have dialup.

My problem is that I connect to my account when I visit my sister and she only has dialup as well.

My actual question is that if I go broadband can I still access my account through her dialup modem when I visit her?

Hope you can help!!!

Thanks

605954 2007-10-28 04:19:00 Some providers give you broadband and dialup. You are not supposed to use them both at the same time so I suppose if nobody was using broadband at your home you could use your dialup at somebody else's place. Xnet gives both - not sure about other ISPs. johnd (85)

It would depend on your ISP, so you would need to contact them . When I was with Slugshot, they allowed it, but you had to have your broandband connection off, as they only allowed one user access at a time on an account, whether it be dialup or broadband .

605956 2007-10-28 10:18:00 If SHE has Internet through dial-up and you're just wanting to access like your Webmail, then yes, that shouldnt be a problem :)

Cheers

605958 2007-10-29 01:28:00 You can access any site from dial-up or broadband including Webmail. You'll just have to wait longer on dial up. beeswax34 (63)

The way the post was written(as the English isn't great) the post could be interpreted in different ways. Eg,

I interpreted this to mean, could they access their own ISPs account that they pay for, through another dialup modem in a different location, if they had a broadband connection. For example, if they didn't want the other person to be billed for their internet usage.

Nothing wrong with the English! The terminology and quality of explanation aren't that great but thats not uncommon for people who aren't familiar with computers .

You don't even know that Chills correct as the OP is yet to respond . It could be that when visiting the sister they don't want to incur extra costs on her account so choose to use there own .
