605754 2007-10-27 03:41:00 :help: I recently changed/upgraded Outlook XP to Outlook 2007. Then I reverted back to Outlook XP. Now I find I can't send emails. Would someone please tell me what the settings should be? I am presuming one goes into Outlook, Tools, E-mail accounts, View or change existing email accounts, User information, Server information, Logon information, but am no longer sure (if I ever did) know what the settings ought to be. :(

I am also getting an annoying dialogue box "Enter Network Password" - help removing that would be appreciated!

As always - TIA

605755 2007-10-27 04:11:00 I'm Saying this as a joke - Well the first part anyway.
Go out side and hit your head against the hardest wall you can  It might be easier.

OK serious answer now - The problem is with Xtra, ever since they changed to bubble Some people have nothing but trouble with Outlook See This Post Here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) Number 13 in particular.

BUT just in case its your settings Here they are (www.xtra.co.nz) direct from Xtra site.

This article Here from MS (office.microsoft.com) May be some help with the network password error.

Had this error problem with a customers PC as well, I will try to locate the paperwork on the suggested fix.

GOOD LUCK:thumbs:

Incoming mail server (POP3): pop3.xtra.co.nz

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): send.xtra.co.nz (If send.xtra.co.nz does not work, try smtp.xtra.co.nz)

Logon Information

* User Name: Enter your Xtra user name (your email address without the "@xtra.co.nz").

* Password: Enter your Xtra password.

* Tick the box marked 'Remember Password'.

605757 2007-10-27 06:19:00 If you are still having trouble, there are alternate settings that don't use ssl. incoming is all standard & outgoing uses send.xtra.co.nz, port 587 (No SSL on either incoming or outgoing). you still have to tick outgoing server requires authentication Greven (91)
605758 2007-10-27 10:39:00 Just reporting back... After two phone calls to Xtra Help Desk I got a girl with an American accent (we had difficulty understanding each other!) - I am finally AOK again, all is well BUT

I now can't use Word to edit email messages. Do you think this might be because I am using Word 2007 with Outlook XP? If it so - then I might just ditch Word 2007.

As an aside, I lost in the process a Distribution List in the switching between one Outlook and the other - oh bother! It might be in my Backup somewhere do you think?

Anyway - I'm due up again soon, so must have some shuteye.

Cheers - and thanks for your comments. :)

Doubt if its word 2007, any of the people I have delt with have either had word 2000 or 2003 .

Seems the problem is xtra cant handle word - Strange:confused:

Thanks for letting every one know it was fixed .

605760 2007-10-28 17:46:00 Reverting back to Word XP has 'fixed' the problem - as you say, strange!

I might take a note of the settings in Outlook more closely, and try again. Nothing like living dangerously... :)
