| 1420456 | 2016-05-13 13:07:00 | Last night when I went to turn off my computer it wouldn't shutdown, I made sure there were no tasks that would interfere running but it just wouldn't shut down. So as it was late and I was tired so I just hard shutdown. Fast forward to today and I am trying to boot but am always getting taken to the automatic repair screen. However it's not just this, every change in screen is taking a very long time, wether it be the 'press del to enter bios' screen which stayed up for about 2 minutes wether or not I entered (I could enter btw) or be it the preparing automatic repair, and even navigating through the advanced options in the repair menu took ages to load. The other unusual thing that I am not seeing is the cache error check and synchronization for intel RST that would usually occur after a hard shutdown. | Slankydudl (16687) | ||
| 1420457 | 2016-05-13 13:29:00 | Well Ill be damned i've been practicing my google-fu all day, and I just happened to want the SD-MicroSD adapter in my card reader for my laptop.... the second I pulled it out the computer started booting fine. And now if I leave it in it wont shutdown until I pull it out, and shutdown normally if I have it out. Im guessing I should stop using it. |

| 1420459 | 2016-05-13 13:39:00 | Nah thats not the case, I haven't even raised the vcore by more than .1v from default for 4.5Ghz to be stable and the temps with a push - pull configuration on the hyper 212 cooler are definitely fine, Doesn't go above 65 in synthetic benchmarks. Although mind you that CPU has been thoroughly thrashed in the past but never as solution for more than a few hours so it is probably still a concern. More info: I took the MicroSD adapter apart and two of the pins were bent and touching, could have been sending power back down a data line. Sorry to waste your time, but this had me stumped all day. |

| 1420460 | 2016-05-13 22:42:00 | Cool that you fixed it and maybe just being an adapter you may have missed it but the first step with any startup/shutdown issues is remove all potential boot devices/usb devices/etc except the main one. I've had a pc that wouldn't shutdown because a smartphone was connected to charge and numerous times have seen a non bootable usb device prevent or slow down startup. Moral of the story, always try disconnecting everything. |
