| 1420296 | 2016-05-11 00:44:00 | upgraded to W10 recently, all good so far. Thinking I'll need a recovery disk, duly plugged in an USB dive, then downloaded the inf required. The recommendation for the drive is at least 8GB, the info on screen doesn't go anywhere near 8GB. From what is shown, is that enough to, say, get out of trouble if the system fails? or reinstall the whole of W10? Have I missed something? had a snapshot of screen but seem to have the wrong extension. The info is boot efi sources SVI bootmgr bootmgr.efi reagent.xml hope that's not confusing |

| 1420297 | 2016-05-11 00:53:00 | good luck trying to do a restore with that :) Create a system image, using either Windows backup (make sure its a disk image ) or another 3rd party program www.cnet.com www.windowscentral.com edit: are we talking about a recovery CD/USB or a backup, or install Disk. They are 3 different things. A Win recovery CD(USB) wont let you re-install . Its used to fix startup issues etc. A Manufacturers recovery CD is different again, and will wipe & reload the system. That looks like a Win Recovery USB/CD . |

| 1420299 | 2016-05-11 02:12:00 | do a backup image with active@... quick and easy - and very reliable (and free) http://www.disk-image.com/ Free ?? cant make a bootable CD/USB on the free version (according to the website) so is the free version of any real use , since you cant easily use the free version to recover from total meltdown (I assume) How did you plan to do a complete recovery on the free version if Win isnt bootable ? |
