1420076 2016-05-04 04:22:00 OK - don't hit me - it's on Puppy/Slacko 6 . 3 . 0 .

All my androids run well, even when Puppy falls into the outhouse . I can't keep this distro wirelessly on-line no matter what I do .

I DID solve part of the WiFi problem when I opened a door for it to tippy-toe out through the firewall . Puppy WiFi - wireless WiFi at least signs in once in a while when I boot up . I told it to keep the profile that seems to work at least 20% of the time . It uses that at boot-time I think . Who knows what evil lurks in Puppy - surely I don't .

Anyway - the problem is as stated below:

I download and type an answer for an email and by the time I click SEND - it's dead (the WiFi) and I have to go into Network Hell with instructions written in Klingon - Australian Klingon, with strange-to-a-Klingon dialects for words - to get back on .

I even have my SSID password all saved and ready to paste into the appropriate spot on the WiFi Wizards - all three of them that come in Puppy . Yes ---- I tried them all .

I understand that this Puppy distro is kinda a rogue - 'loose canon', if you will, but I think I'm learning something here even if it doesn't apply to any other L-based distro .

Hey - as a sidebar: have any of youse guys seen any penguins yet or is it too early in the season for that yet? Are they white meat or dark meat? :devil

1420077 2016-05-04 05:46:00 .
No penguins available yet SJ, but there are a few canons running loose late on Sunday evenings .

You might have some luck catching one of them, they are often quite plump but size is a problem so you have to have a decent sized spit to barbie them on!

Skin them first, they are black & white on the outside but pink meat inside .

They can be a bit fatty too .

Cheers

1420078 2016-05-06 01:27:00 I diagnose... too much fiddling with network wizards, they resent this (as do any self-respecting wizards) and each try to expunge the others, with spells and potions akimbo, bro.
Just use one.
Are you certain that the hardware side is all good?.

Is this a full install, frugal or USB/CD with a save.sfs?

Slacko is an obscure branch of Puppy, which itself is pretty obscure, you could try one of the Ubuntu versions of Puppy, see if that is more network-stable for you.

The hardware is fine - as I reboot to the Windows XP-P side, it all comes back into running .

I originally used Puppy/Slacko from a download onto a cd and then (on this 64-bit at least) got it to fully install, foregoing the live version .

The 32-bit ---- er, can't seem to get it right and insists that I have the original and same disc as I used here - in the optical reader - not a R/W but only a reading optical, at all times .

I bet you're right about too many wizards spoil the connections part too . I am guilty of not being patient and just un-clicking one and trying the other two or three . I forget a lot - patient not am I .

You know, I'm still just experimenting with Puppy, as I know it's teaching me to NOT grab my ol' 50cal S&W and insert some ventilation into my flat screen . Teaching me patience is a good thing . Next month, if I'm behaving as they expect me to without meds, I can handle sharp-pointy objects again as long as I don't run with them again - but matches and fire are still a long way down my mental tunnel for the time being .

I've got a nice new disc from an Upsidedown Land-er --- of audiolinux which I will install soon, but I haven't reached my 'going postal' limit yet .

I think you're absolutely right though . Slacko is kinda off in the corner of L-based distro thingys so I may take this 64-bit 'puter into another version of Puppy for some more self abuse .

Sum Ting Wong I think .
