1416170 2016-02-17 18:59:00 Has anyone here set up their Android phone to use Xtramail?

I know setting up should be pretty simple and straightforward according to Here (www.spark.co.nz).

But, there doesn't seem to mention anything about the option to 'Leave a copy on Server'. I want to leave a copy of all mail on my server (Xtra) so that I can fall back onto if ......

Would appreciate it if someone here can enlighten me on the above.

Cheers.

1416171 2016-02-17 19:03:00 You're better off using IMAP on your devices, so the mail stays in sync. Alex B (15479)

1416173 2016-02-17 20:37:00 www.spark.co.nz spark don't really want you to use imap for some reason but it works well enough.

I wouldn't worry too much, I just let my last 3 android phones (all samsung) set themselves up and they used POP and never deleted anything from the server even when I told them to.
In fact I'd get frustraded with E-mail I already marked as read or deleted coming back as new E-mail on the phone again if I used another device to check it in beetween using the phone.

Now I just use the yahoo webmail to set up a rule to forward my xtra accounts to my Gmail one, that way I only need to set up the default Gmail on my phone and still get all my mail.
Personally I've been slowly phasing out xtra in favour of Gmail.

Certainly the easiest way to do it.

1416179 2016-02-18 00:26:00 I think you have the solution you want already, but just a thought - I have two Gmail accounts for different purposes, an Xtra account as part of my current ISP package (I only use the Xtra email account for business), and an old Paradise account from my previous ISP (I am phasing this account out as I gradually find emails from older software registrations etc and wean them off the Paradise address).

On the phone and tablet (Nexus 9) I have been using an app called AquaMail which will send/retrieve emails from all my current accounts. When I bought a new phone recently, I installed AquaMail and it set up all of my current accounts (it tends to go for Imap by default, and is very slow as it works out that Imap does not work, so I have found it best to do the set up using the Manual option). It leaves messages on the server by default, though with GMail if you delete a message on the phone/tablet, and then empty the bin, it removes it from the GMail server as well.

I find Aquamail so useful with multiple email accounts that I shelled out for the paid version - I upgraded to the paid version because the free one was limited to two accounts, and the free version also appended a promo to each email message. I have found it well worth the few dollars it cost. The developer actually answered my email when I had a problem (Aquamail not playing nicely with a new version of Android System Webview, which was fixed by a reboot), and there are regular updates.
