1416045 2016-02-13 23:05:00 Looking at picking something up from the receivership sale at Dick Smith, an HP product. If Dick Smith totally falls over, and something goes wrong with the HP, does HP have to fix it under warranty/CGA? Nick G (16709)

If it was new/unused stock.

1416047 2016-02-13 23:21:00 Yes, it's usually quicker to take goods direct to HP for repair rather than going through the retailer anyway. Alex B (15479)
1416048 2016-02-13 23:53:00 If DSE fell over totally, you would just have to get in the queue. Therefore, HP would be the only choice. Lot of shagging around though. I would not buy if reliability and servicing were an issue.

1416049 2016-02-14 17:04:00 How is it "lots of shagging around" to ring their 0800 number, do some diagnostics over the phone and take it/send it in for repair? You will get the laptop back faster than if you had taken it to the retailer. When I was working for HP as long as parts were in NZ the turn around time was 2 days. Alex B (15479)
1416050 2016-02-14 20:05:00 HP be still cover all warranty claims , as per usual

Out of warranty claims, under the CGA (say after a 1 year warranty), would be a real pain as there is no retailer to deal with.
Factor that into the cost

Well if my printer issue was anything to go by, a whole heap of shagging around.
Round and round in circles with the useless ph people, missing the point totally, then when it finally got escalated months later, a whole lot of shirking by them.

In the end I filed a Disputes Case at which point they finally refunded me and I have avoided thier **** ever since.

Which is not say this is a bad idea - buying something from DSE, just who the agents will be when you need to make a warranty claim....Hp - meh.

1416052 2016-02-15 02:31:00 Cheers for that guys - as it turns out, I left it a little late to get in...and the shop was evacuated and closed by the time I got there! Nick G (16709)
