The reason I ask is you can bet your bottom dollar this isn’t a “One Off” and there is information on your receipt that may identify just how this scam was organised. It may well be that your card was “skimmed” for instance. But regardless of what you personally can be bothered doing, you should notify the area policing unit, who, by now, probably have a file on these guys that a kangaroo couldn’t jump over in which case you may get your money back if they are found to have committed fraud or theft as opposed to your carelessness. If I had the receipt, I would have noticed the slight discrepancy.	Cicero (40)

You can’t expect the Police to do anything if they aren’t told about it and I personally don’t see it as a Civil Matter. There may be Civil Matters regarding the carelessness, but that doesn’t entitle anyone to fiddle the accounts for the sale. As an example, if you leave your house unlocked and get robbed you may have trouble with your insurance company, but that doesn’t entitle thieves to steal from unlocked houses. Copy the image and post it on social media, complete with address and the story (dress it up a little) . With any luck your post will go viral, and if nothing else, the scam 'operators' will get a lot of unwelcome attention . If revenge is more important than reimbursement, it might help if you changed your name a little to become an elderly female pro-tem and borrowed a photo of a white haired old lady! :D With a decent serve of righteous indignation and the right reaction, they might be out of business inside of a week .
