1420312 2016-05-11 05:15:00 So what is so special about this toy.

What can it do that 98% of all modern computers can't do?

1420313 2016-05-11 05:34:00 Nothing
But in 3 years it will still be doing it while those "modern" computers will need upgrading

1) it can empty your wallet
2) it can lose an alarming $ value after 2 years
3) be grounds for divorce or 1 year of screaming at you regarding spending habits (choose 1 option)
4,5,6) it can make the rest of us gooey with jealousy

1420316 2016-05-11 06:16:00 It does nothing for me..

1 = True
2 = Also true but I will be keeping it for about 5yrs (with the exception of the graphics) so that is around 2k a year, most people spend more than that on alcohol
3 = I have full permission and I saved for it myself with overtime
4,5,6 yes :)

Ah but it can do awesome gaming! That's what a majority of the **** in HN etc can't do. Or do well.

As for 3) I actually managed to get husband to buy me a GPU one year for my birthday.
I ran 3DMark and showed him the old one.
When he did get the new GPU I showed him again, the difference was enormous.

He did recover from the idea of the cost eventually...LOL.

2) Who sells them later anyway, expecting to get their money back? I just used to upgrade mine anyway, change bits every now and then, haven't bought an entire PC since 1998.

QFT

The PC built 5 years ago for 8k is now being stripped and sold as parts

1420320 2016-05-11 22:49:00 Unless you incrementally upgrade parts over the years, any pc will have that problem.

My pc is about 2 years old. Currently swapping motherboard with existing CPU.....but later I can upgrade the CPU also. Ram is fine as it already have 32gb in it (I run virtual machines), hard drives (about 7) I replace with larger ones as they reach the $200 mark.

I don't game on it, so video performance isn't an extra expense for me.
