1415946 2016-02-12 20:25:00 Theres a few ways LL, have a read of how-to-stop-windows-7-or-8-from-downloading-windows-10-automatically/ (www.howtogeek.com). Theres a link at the end of the article that you have to read as well, Under "So You Already Have the $WINDOWS.~BT Folder?"

Thanks for that, will check it out on my own Win 7 machine today!

1415947 2016-02-13 02:47:00 I did find that Windows 10 folder on my PC, so I followed the removal instructions as in the link. I uninstalled the two updates that were in the Installed Windows Updates list first and then deleted the folder.
Downloaded and ran the GWX Control Panel and did as was suggested. That all seemed to work fine, but when I went to do a reboot, Windows wanted to install more updates and configure them! Wasn't much I could do, and it went ahead, took a couple of hours.....

When I restarted, the two updates were back on, but won't show up in the Installed Updates in Control Panel, only in the Updates History part. The actual Windows 10 folder doesn't seem to be there on C drive now though.

Computer is now running much faster as I used Ccleaner as well. I've changed the way I receive updates now so they no longer download and install automatically.

I'll go see the old guy and set his machine up similarly.

Cheers, LL

1415950 2016-02-14 06:15:00 Why? It's a pile of crap and nowhere near being ready to unleash on the public. I thought Vista and 8 were bad enough on release, but this thing takes the cake. Renegade (16270)

Funny that I was a serial hater of Vista & Win 8 yet find Win 10 to have no issues for me at all an I actually like it.

1415952 2016-02-14 07:59:00 Same here. Only really liked 3 Windows versions' XP, Win7 and Win10. All the others got better with service packs but those 3 were good out of the box. :)

Wow! So much hate for your fellow creatures.

Try putting water, preferably hot, with your coffee and you may mellow enough to think (NOT say):"The sooner everyone that deserves it is on Windows 10 the better." I think only the Supreme Court should be able to hand out sentences of that severity though. ;)

1415955 2016-02-14 09:24:00 I might like it too, except for the fact that Microsoft want to ram it down your throat whether you want it or not. And that's apart from all the crappy spyware that comes with it and the intrusiveness of the software.
It's like a virus, they want to download and install it, with no regard for what it can do to your computer. I know a few people who thought it was a good idea to get it, and it completely bricked their computers!

I'll just stick with Win 7 for now, thank you. My next one will be probably an iMac, mainly just use my iPad anyway. I am so over Windows......
