1415868 2016-02-11 01:48:00 I've used several Navman GPS units, the latest one I have is an EZY250 I think, I just did a map update on it the other day (Win10, latest version of NavDesk available) with no issues.

I still like having one in the car on long trips, not so much for the map but just the other info.

Interesting .

As far as I know NavDesk 7 . 5 is the latest, albeit a couple of years old, and my Navman is an MY85XLT also a couple of years old .

I tried it on my Win10 laptop using NavDesk 7 . 5 but no luck .

Just won't buy another which begs the question what is the pick of them?

1415870 2016-02-11 02:34:00 I just checked and it was 7.5 I used...can't explain why mine worked fine when everyone else seems to be having trouble. wratterus (105)
1415871 2016-02-11 03:25:00 Google maps has the talk function as standard PCtek so will be on all Android phones gary67 (56)
1415872 2016-02-11 04:39:00 I did mention offline apps, NavMii for example is offline only and uses no data. "Here" is online by default but gives you the option of downloading the maps for offline use, and google maps let you download areas. So all 3 let you navigate with no data usage if that's a concern for you. I find the data usage is too minimal to worry about for me personally.

Just checking it out. One seriously NOSEY app! Needs access to: Contacts, Location (a given), Phone (call log), Photos/Media/Files, Wifi connection information, Device ID & call information.

It’s a strange one alright .

But we can draw comfort from the fact that the so called Navmen experts can’t explain it either . Their original explanation was that it was NavDesk 7 . 0 that was the problem and an upgrade to NavDesk 7 . 5 would fix it but alas not so .

And I’m not going to blame Win10 because it doesn’t work on Win 7 either .

However, it does work on XP sometimes, but not recently for me .

Maybe if Billy ever tracks one of these Navman experts he might like to refer them to this thread? :)

NavMii

Uninstalled it. Tried search w/postcodes: no such address found. Typed in random street names and got either "no such address found" or its 200k away instead of a couple of blocks :waughh:

1415876 2016-02-11 07:53:00 Try HERE maps (that's it's name). You have to download the maps to use it offline but it gives you that option.
I have those 2 installed as a backup for google maps mainly for those occasions when I'm out of coverage and need to search a new route. Mostly I just use maps.

sounds like most Android apps :badpc:
Most people dont seem to check permissions taken by apps . Accessing contacts & call info is a dodgy requirement .
