1415114 2016-01-27 22:11:00 I currently use Windows 7 Pro and haven't read the many posts about tech stuff around Windows 10 (kinda been keeping my head under the blankets), but was told not to hurry by my IT son. :)

Now - I wonder if it is time for me to consider the upgrade for my two Windows computers? What do you guys think? Your thoughts are always appreciated...

My use of computers (beyond the usual keeping in touch with the world) is for photography matters - use of Photoshop, keeping my many pics in some sort of logical order, not much more than that.

1415115 2016-01-27 22:29:00 Having adopted Windows 8 pretty early, and then Windows 10 pretty early, I'd say no rush. You definitely want to upgrade before the free upgrade offer ends, but Windows 10 is still pretty buggy on my system - far more so than Windows 8 or 7 were. Nick G (16709)
1415116 2016-01-27 22:48:00 I am running Win 10 pro 64bit and let it install all the updates. I like it a lot and have found it simple to get to grips with.
Most of the individual complaints I have seen about Win 10,are IMHO, by those persons who make a hobby of knocking MS at every opportunity. I totally exclude the Tech's who are testing all the latest builds from that comment.
The safest way to go is to make an image of your current system and then do the upgrade, that way let's you go back if you do find that it turns to custard.

1415117 2016-01-27 23:33:00 I have been observing for a few months other users experiences upgrading to Win 10
and having read about so many problems have decided to stay with Win 7 until MS
address and resolve those problems, hopefully by issuing a service pack before July.
I am aware that I could install Win10 alongside Win7 in a dual boot configuration to
try it or install it on a separate hard drive but have no wish to suffer any of the probs
I have seen posted on various forums.

In Bold -- its been mentioned before -- There Will NEVER be a service pack for W10 .

What they do is make alterations, "fix Bugs" and generally create more along the way ;) Then bring out New builds .

If you look at the other post about the Previews they are bringing out new testing versions all the time now, these are complete installs, Which leave a windows . old folder, no "service packs" as previous OS's . Once MS decide its good enough, they will put them to the general public .

1415123 2016-01-28 04:23:00 I changed both my computers to W10 Pro, from W7 Pro. I have now gone back to W7 because of compatibility issues. W7 has everything I need and is 100% reliable. If you make a system image of your current Windows you can try W10 and switch back at any time. Your computer will then be registered to W10 so you can switch over at any time, only takes about 20 minutes. When the final W10 version comes out I will update it. mzee (3324)
