| 606916 | 2007-10-31 08:24:00 | Hello. I recently purchased a new computer, picked all the parts off ascent and asked them to build it for me. After installing all of the drivers surplied the USB ports dont seem to work? The only thing using them currenty is the mouse which works but if i unplug it and plug it back in, windows doesnt reconise it. Also when I plugged in my external HDD windows didnt reconise it. WindowsXP SP2 Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard |

| 606918 | 2007-10-31 08:41:00 | Delete everything under USB controllers in device manager, then reboot. Then see if the USB ports work. And if this doesnt work, check the BIOS to see if USB 2 is enabled. |

| 606919 | 2007-10-31 09:11:00 | Just tried that, but didnt work. Wasn't sure how to check the bios thing. I tried pressing f10 on the startup screen, then i tried pressing f8 and a blue menu came up but i saw no USB information or anything similar. |

| 606923 | 2007-10-31 09:29:00 | Has this external hdd been formatted?? If it hasnt it wont show until you format it. Go to control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management. See if it appears here as unallocated. If it does it has to be formatted, before it appears in my computer. The only other thing u can do is take it back, and tell the shop to fix it. What ports are u plugging whatever into? The back or the front?? If the front, maybe the shop connected them wrong? |
