So did all the windows updates again and it still isnt working. Should i try reinstalling windows? Right first of all did you try using a PS2 mouse instead of the USB mouse, just in case the mouse is causing the problem ? If the USB is working from the Live CD, and still not from windows after changing the Mouse to PS2 - then Yep ! Nuke windows, reinstall XP, install all Motherboard drivers, and see what happens. Try the USB ports after you have installed windows & Drivers, NO updates yet see if they work then. |

| 606948 | 2007-11-01 00:24:00 | Ok just found a PS2 mouse, still the USB isnt working... So I'll reinstall windows tonight (because I dont have the CD on me currently) and see how it goes. So install Windows + The drivers on the motherboard CD and test the USB? If it still doesnt work then what? | Adeane (12918) | ||
| 606949 | 2007-11-01 00:24:00 | Just an Update to my post above, if you reinstall XP, try plugging in a basic Pen Drive into the Ports BEFORE installing the Motherboard Drivers . Normally as long as its XP SP2 it will detect a basic device - this will test to see if its a driver issue from the Supplied MB CD . If it still doesnt work then what? See the pic Under my Name  Serious - If that happens we'll cross that bridge when we come to it |

| 606951 | 2007-11-01 00:48:00 | Ok the windows install disk I have isnt SP2, but I have a seperate SP2 disk . Should I install SP1 then check USB? Or windows + sp2? Cheers for all your help dude . Should work on SP1 as long as its a basic device, if it asks to install software click cancel even if it asks to install software . Then install the MB drivers see if they work - then SP2 . What I'm trying to see is a simple process . One step at a time, if the ports work then something is added, then they stop - theres the problem . It may be a faulty SP2 install - you never know . |
