607043 2007-11-01 03:17:00 How do I know which ATX my motherboard is compatible with? Does it matter? Or will they all work?

Thanks

607044 2007-11-01 16:01:00 If you buy an "off the shelf" computer. Remember it has been built to a price. Not a quality standard. JJJJJ (528)
607045 2007-11-01 18:12:00 Yea, mine was off the shelf, 3 years ago xD

Anyways, i've noticed that no one seems to have mentioned anything about Thermaltake. Is it better or worse than Silverstone? Price wise it seems Thermaltake is a bit darer...

$153.96 for a 500 watt Silverstone
$158.21 for a 460 watt Thermaltake.

$4.25 more and you get 40 less watts?:horrified

607046 2007-11-01 18:14:00 Go for the Silverstone. qazwsxokmijn (102)
607047 2007-11-01 18:16:00 Either will do.
I personaly use Silverstone

607048 2007-11-01 19:27:00 -Enermax

Which brands do you reckon are the best?

I had a silverstone. It died. Taking my graphics card with it.
Therefore, even though they get great reviews I have a aversion to trying another.

Enermax is king in my opinion.

And qazwsxokmijn - you mean they haven't given you a problem - yet.
You really don't want to experience the results of one of those "having a problem".

Why not pay just $90.00 for a 430W Thermaltake from DSE (www.dse.co.nz)? I and at least one other very knowledgable PF1 user have one. Reliable and inexpensive.

[edit] and it'll work fine in your system, plus a good warranty.

607050 2007-11-02 02:10:00 Make sure you check out the specs/reviews of the DSE one. Thermaltake make some pretty crappy power supplies as well as some good ones. george12 (7)
607051 2007-11-02 04:32:00 Really? All the 3 Hyenas I have had never gave me a problem. :(

They're fine if you're running a socket 370 600mhz celeron or something... but push them near the limits and they are very likely to explode in a sheet of flame or similar
