608235 2007-11-04 07:36:00 Video card fan died on a galaxy 7600GS, need replacement. suitable one can be found here

www.directron.com

Asked if they ship to NZ but dunno how eventful that would be, does anyone know anywhere in NZ I can get this fan (or a compatible one?) or if anyone has one they would like to give/sell to me?

608236 2007-11-04 07:44:00 I don't know if there are fans like that in NZ, but I have an idea:

Snap the housing of a 40mm fan and attach the bottom frame with superglue or something.

608237 2007-11-04 17:39:00 Pretty sure DSE have somthing similar. But if it was me I'd try Directron - the cost is low enough to risk it. Greg (193)
608238 2007-11-04 19:03:00 An outfit called Zalman make cooling products for PCs including fans for video cards.
www.zalman.co.kr
There products are availible in NZ. Do a Google search for NZ, just type in Zalman.

The VF900-Cu is a little overkill and expensive for a 7600GS, I think Agent_24 is looking for a fan replacement and not the entire heatsink fan combo.

608242 2007-11-04 20:15:00 Something like this (www.pc-look.com) could be a good option, I've seen a fair few mods where they bend a PCI bracket 90 degrees and hot glue a 120mm fan to it. The fan then blow air up on to the video card heatsink. Would be considerably quieter than any 40mm or 60mm stock fan, you could even volt mod it down to 7v. This is all assuming theres enough space below the video card. Pete O'Neil (6584)

I asked them if I could order it, how much shipping would be and if I can pay with credit card: they replied with

"Actually, payment can only be by wire transfer for international orders. The shipping cost would be about 5 or 6 times the cost of the fan itself. If you had an American friend or relative who could buy the fan, then mail it to you in an envelope as a letter you'd be much better off. Or find a local source."

Funny thing is I just bought some CDs from CDUniverse (which is in USA) and they only charge you $8.99 USD airmail for first item + $1.75 or so each extra item. And they accepted my card.

Looks like if I did try to order it, it would be a lot of hassle...

Yes, That's why I was just looking at a new fan because that's easier, and I thought it would be cheaper.

Don't want to have to rip off the heatsink and redo all the thermal interface either, since to tell the truth I don't know I've actually ever been able to do it properly. (CPU HSF with the thermal pad already on is another matter :p)

And of course all the aftermarket coolers out there are huge with heatpipes or are much more overkill than needed. I mean who is going to sell a stock cooler??

All I just want is a tiny little fan! :badpc: Doesn't anyone import them??!
