608784 2007-11-06 23:04:00 Wired connection is what I would have tried first, Wireless LAN can often be slow or otherwise unreliable, I would expect it's some configuration/reception issue, but the wireless module is probably functioning fine Agent_24 (57)

I am getting like 2302 from speed tests - yet everything is still download really really slow and i though 2302 wasn't too bad ...

I am getting a split board band jack installed tomorrow to see if that helps ... at a cost of $150

608786 2007-11-07 08:06:00 blame your isp, try port forwarding

i'm assuming ALL downloads are slow, so it's not at the server side

608787 2007-11-07 08:23:00 Well as I said - downloading IE7 from microsoft - tested 3 times and downloads @ 23kbs ... now that MUST mean something is wrong.

Torrent downloads @ MAX 70kbs - laptop is doing 300kbs on the same files (both NOT running at the same time).

Steam downloading HL2 - PC - 27kbs max - laptop 150kbs max (still jumps around alot but you get that with Steam ....) - again not at the same time.

When I'm testing - I disable the wirless completely on the PC.

This is really pissing me off - $3000 for this crap to happen >_<

That sounds like your net connection is fine, and 2302 from speedtest is fine also, don't think there's much point getting a splitter installed unless you want to waste your money

It's probably just a wrong setting somewhere

608791 2007-11-07 10:20:00 I'm with Xtra aswell.

Let me just say, you arn't alone. I'll be switching providers soon. This is almost as bad as the old dialup days.

If you can get 300K/sec download on another computer connected to your internet, it is NOT your internet or your router at fault. It is very likely that the PC with which you get slow speeds has an issue.
