608194 2007-11-04 02:55:00 Are any PC experts out there able to give me some hints as to why my computer is hanging when I try to open a link from an email, or from a site, e.g. BNZ Statements on Line. The computer freezes when I click to download my statements to my PC via Acrobat Reader. This is becoming very frustrating and Xtra Helpdesk are totally unhelpful. Each time it happens I have to get out of my internet connection and start from scratch again. I've been running a wireless modem all year and this problem has only recently started. I feel that it's something to do with Xtra / Yahoo etc., but I'm no expert. Jill Harrington (12529)

Get Hijackthis in my sig below. Put it in its own folder.

Run it then click on scan the system and save a log. Copy and paste the log here.

Altho depending on WHICH version of Adobe reader you've got, one of the versions of V 8 had a vulnerability in it.

And has only recently been updated to fix this.

If you're using Adobe reader (And not the Pro version), you could try Foxit (www.foxitsoftware.com)

Which does the same thing but is a lot smaller (2.13 mb).

I would be careful on what links you click on (and what attachments ) you save in email.

Are the statements from BNZ in PDF format??

Cant say I've seen a site that does statements in PDF format.

608196 2007-11-04 06:25:00 Make sure Acrobat Reader's automatic updates are turned off. In my experience it has a tendancy to hang trying to search for updates, and the result is your computer sits waiting for a PDF page that will never open. iwalmsley (12803)
