609991 2007-11-10 02:03:00 Hi Guys

Anybody know if there is something like "Memtest" but that rigorously tests the CPU instead of memory? Available either as a simple ISO file or part of a Linux live disc.

Thanks.

609992 2007-11-10 02:16:00 Burnin Test (www.passmark.com) can test all aspects of your PC's hardware, select the hardware you want to test in the configeration settings. CPU, audio, graphics in 2D & 3D - the lot.

Its not free, the trial gives you 30 days but its fully functional for that time.

609993 2007-11-10 02:24:00 Doesn't appear to be bootable though, which I would prefer as the computers i'm planning on testing will have no OS, and don't really what to have to install a Linux distro first if possible.
It would also be nice if it were free.

Thanks

609995 2007-11-10 03:25:00 There is a program on a bootable CD Called The Ultimate Boot CD (ubcd.sourceforge.net) called CPUBench.
It does run from the CD, in fact I just tried it on a workshop PC, with no HardDrive. Never used it before so I don't know if ita any good or not.

The programs located in the Menu location - System Information>Stress & Benchmark>CPUBench.

Its has a similar layout to windows XP but from the CD.

609997 2007-11-10 04:26:00 Also just found This bootable CD (www.hiren.info) 1 st under Testing tools, but never used it ??? wainuitech (129)
609998 2007-11-10 04:34:00 Yeah I found that Hiren's one as well but was a bit skeptical of it and couldn't even find a download link on the page (there probably is one and I've just missed it).

Anyway I've got the Ultimate Boot CD one running currently on one of my good computers to test the program. Now all I need is the old computers I've been promised to pull apart rebuild, test and "hopefully" learn something from. ;)

Thanks for all your help!

609999 2007-11-10 07:14:00 Ultimate Boot CD works a treat.

For all those out there wanting to test your hardware its brilliant. It incorporates multiple memory, hard drive, cpu and cdrom tests all in one simple easy to use CD.
