| 609332 | 2007-11-08 03:27:00 | Hey, i've got 3 questions. First up. Is there any point in upgrading from Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 to Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0? All I know is that they take up more hard drive space but do you actually benefit from upgrading? Secondly, my hard drive occasionally makes this sound... zzzzzzzzz"ticktick"zzzzzzzzzzz"ticktick"zzzzzz. Pretty much a buzzing sound with ticks inbetween. It occurs randomly, sometimes when idle, sometimes when not. It lasts for a couple of minutes and stops. Is this normal? It's only occured with my WD 500GB SATA HDD. My old WD 120GB IDE HDD never made any sounds like this... Thirdly, if I do a speed test during congested hours, that is 4pm - 10pm, the speed that shows up is roughly the same at any hour of the day. e.g. Your line speed is approximately 3878.6 Kbps or 475.3 K bytes/sec I get around this speed all the time, but when I actually download from a site during traffic hours, the speeds are around 20-100 kb/s, and during the mornings I can get the full 400kb/s or so. Why is it that my actual download speeds are slower than what the speed test shows during high traffic hours? Isn't this misleading in some way? Thanks |

If you dont install any programs, that need .Net 2 or 3, you dont need .Net 2 or 3. Some sites say v3 includes 1 and 2. BUT, I dont think v2 includes v 1.1. Coz once I uninstalled 1.1, then installed V2 by itself, programs that needed 1.1 didnt work and complained. In the end, I had to format, so I could reinstall 1.1 again. I wouldnt worry about the clicking, I hear it too, while I'm doing something. It hasnt died yet. It'll depend on WHERE you downloading from. On how fast you get whatever. |

I haven't come across anything that required v3 yet, but v2 definitely does not include the v1.1 files so you need both installed if you have programs that require either v1.1 or v2. |
