| 609244 | 2007-11-07 22:49:00 | Im recording Video on to my Hard drive, but Im trouble getting it to a suitable format to play on a DVD player Ive 1hr40min recorded in a 3.2Gb mpg file, but Nero 6 wont make a DVD Video file from it unless its a mov type file. So I copied it as a Data file onto a blank DVD, but the DVD player doesent recognise it. Is it because its over 2Gb as nero came up with a Warning saying PCs wont play mpeg files greater than that size? Where do I go from here? Thanks John in Mosgiel. |

A DVD movie, is a particular video/audio standard, recorded onto a DVD disk. To get a movie to play on a DVD, it needs to be in a format the DVD understands. The best place to look, is www.digital-digest.com, or http: for video/audio conversion tools. Copying the data to the DVD is the easy part, creating a file the DVD player can understand is where the work comes in. All you get with Nero, is the necessary converters to go from .mov to a DVD format movie. |

You could try this (http://www.cdburnerxp.se) Its free, but I've never used it. It may pay to see if your burner is here first (www.cdburnerxp.se) And you're right just copying the file to a DVD wont work. A DVD player cant read it. It has to be in a DVD format, (and the DVD player has to be compatible with it), for it to play it. |

| 609249 | 2007-11-07 23:53:00 | Once you have put it onto your computer you need a program like Cucusoft AVI to VCD DVD MPEG creator. It is a long process as every frame has to be converted to DVD format. It well take as long as the original or longer to convert. :) |

| 609250 | 2007-11-08 00:06:00 | You dont need any other program to convert it first. If you've got a program (like Nerovision - with the DVD plugin), that can load whatever format, it WILL convert it to DVD format. Once it burns whatever to DVD. |

| 609251 | 2007-11-08 00:10:00 | Ive 1hr40min recorded in a 3.2Gb mpg file, but Nero 6 wont make a DVD Video file from it unless its a mov type file. My Nero is just the free one that came with my DVD Burner. Version 7* Open Nero. Choose Nero Vision from the left side flyout Choose make DVD - DVD-Video Choose Add Video Files Locate your Mpeg ( I just added a 4.3Gb MPEG file and that worked for me.) I also tried AVI, MOV and WMV they all worked also. Once the file has loaded, choose Next. You can opt to add a Menu/Title Page or up to choose not to. Choose Next Insert your blank DVD and choose next and it should start burning a Video DVD. Once it is done you can open it up and take a look and it will have two folders normally VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. Audio is empty a lot of the time and the Video_TS folder will have several files with VOB extensions just under 2Gb each. Make sure you do NOT set burn speed faster than the blank your using can handle, preferably slower. Hope it works for you. |
