| 609143 | 2007-11-07 06:02:00 | Hi I am selling my old computer and need to secure erase all data on the hard drive. It has Windows XP on it so I can't use the DOS based program I used to use prior to having this computer. Can anyone give me pointers how I can secure erase the hard drive? Thanks, shomenno |

| 609146 | 2007-11-07 08:03:00 | The best tool for securely removing data from a hard drive is the GNU shred tool. This is what the DBAN disk uses but that disc makes it incredibly easy to use. The techniques used in that tool were invented by Peter Guttman, one of New Zealand's top academics in IT. | TGoddard (7263) | ||
