610122 2007-11-10 09:40:00 I run XP SP2 and frequently the PC crashes after the user logon. It's mostly fine when I try a second or third time. How can I find out the cause? bpt2 (6653)
610123 2007-11-10 12:53:00 Go to your Start Menu -> Run -> type in: eventvwr

See what the system logs are showing as errors or warnings and post back if you need any clarification. Could be overheating but mostly not.

610124 2007-11-10 23:33:00 The only two warnings I get are:
TraceLevel parameter not located in registry; Default trace level used is 32.

TraceFileName parameter not located in registry; Default trace file used is .

610125 2007-11-10 23:48:00 Looks like it has something to do with the SNMP service (support.microsoft.com)

Disable it.

Dont know where SNMP came from, its not on this.

The reg entry isnt either.

610126 2007-11-12 09:32:00 I'm still getting crashes and when I try to log on in Safe mode the PC simply shuts down. A registry scan with Ace Utilities also crashes the system bpt2 (6653)
610127 2007-11-12 10:14:00 And how come I get different results from different registry scanners. Regcure seems to pick up least, Registrysmart more and CCleaner the most. bpt2 (6653)
610128 2007-11-12 11:52:00 Well I don't know about the others, but CCleaner is by far the best so I'd go with that. Delete all the entries it throws up AND backup all the changes before you do so. beeswax34 (63)
