| 610496 | 2007-11-11 08:00:00 | You could post a hijackthis log. This will show us whats running. We'll see if theres anything nasty on your system. I doubt it tho, if its pretty recent. The link is below in my sig. Put it in its own folder then run it. Then click on scan the system and save a log. Then copy and paste it here. |

| 610500 | 2007-11-11 19:35:00 | Source disk The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block. Atapi The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0. Those are normally related to read errors on the Drives. The first one is the Hard Drive, which should be SATA, the second is a IDE Optical drive. The mother board has 8 SATA connectors and 1 IDE. Looking at the Manual on pages 23 + 24, it is possible that the SATA cable that is connecting the HD to the Board is on the wrong Connector. Connectors 0 & 1 say they need the gigabyte SATA drivers to work correctly, if these are not installed you may have these problems. But without actually seeing how is been connected and where thats only a guess. There is a possibility that the software is not loaded, working correctly. (Vista) You can try the chkdsk to to see if it locates any faulty sectors / files. In Vista you need to do it differently to XP. Try this - double click " Computer" locate the hard drive,( Normally C: ) right click it select Properties > Tools Tab >in Error Checking select "Check Now" > in the box that pops up tick both options, automatically fix ... & scan for bad sectors .... click Start. It will ask to scan when PC next reboots - Click Scheduled Disk Check > OK. Close all windows and reboot the PC. TOUCH NOTHING it will restart and start doing the chkdsk - this may take some time since it has to check every file and every sector on the HD. Whats a worry is the IDE giving error messages also, if the chkdsk does not fix it (Possible driver fault) , I'd seriously suggest you take it back to the place that built it, Show them the error messages and whats been said here / Done - as it may have a faulty Motherboard, and the HD and DVD Writer are not making contact correctly, it could be why the drive light is solid when it locks, its trying to locate the components. It could also be the power plugs not making contact as speedy said, but with out taking the side off the case, which you said you don't want to do there is no way of checking. |
