611545 2007-11-14 23:52:00 Hi, I got a TV Card - leadteak.
TV reception is great and I can record.
When I open the file on windows media player - there is no sound.

Possible to find out what codec I require and just download that?

Thanks

611546 2007-11-14 23:58:00 Which leadtek card??

You may not get sound, if you didnt put the record option, on the right option in the config (in the PVR program, if this is what u used).

ie: The Deluxe uses line in, so you would select this. The Expert uses aux so it would be set to this.

Was there sound, when you were viewing / watching whatever channel??

611547 2007-11-15 00:21:00 Its this card:
ascent.co.nz

The TV card uses a CD cable and is connected the onboard sound "CD IN".
When viewing there is sound. Yes its via PVR software.

611548 2007-11-15 00:39:00 Hmm ok. Will it play back from the PVR program then, with sound.

That'll tell us whether WMP is the prob or how you recorded it.

WMP probably needs an MPEG codec. Just be careful what codec you get. Some install malware.

611549 2007-11-15 00:53:00 In PVR if I choose open file and open the file. I get no sound.

When I use PVR to play a wma sound file .. prob incl with windows, PVR plays that correctly.

Under PVR settings:
Video device is that tv card.
Capture format profile - mpeg1 - optimal quality

Audio device:
the onboard sound card
audio out control line - aux
audio recording line - aux
capture audio is ticked
master stream - audio

What are the ideal settings?

611550 2007-11-15 00:55:00 Thanks.

I have now fixed it. Audio - recording line - I chose CD Player instead now works.

Hey, a related question, what are your ideal suggested settings?
Also if I wanted to like record a tv show and not take much room up what is your suggestion?

Thanks.

611551 2007-11-15 01:05:00 I've got mine on MPEG2 optimal quality.

And left the other settings at their default settings

I'm using the PVR2 program from the leadtek site (Using a deluxe tuner).

So, dont know, if you've got the same settings as mine.

Altho this version is only on the Expert page, (on the Leadtek site), it seems to work fine on the Deluxe.

It seems to have a better interface than the version, I use to use.

It depends on HOW long the program is you're recording.

On how big the file is when it finishes recording.

If it goes over 4GB, hopefully your hdd is formatted in NTFS, not FAT32.

Otherwise it'll have probs.
