611043 2007-11-12 20:22:00 M-Audio Audiophile 192 Sound card?

I can't find any online nz store that has this. It's a really popular soundcard which I want to buy.

Anyone know of anywhere that might have this in stock?

611044 2007-11-12 20:29:00 From a quick Google, It looks to be a high end audio card that sometimes gets bundled with Pro-Tools, As silly as it sounds, You maybe better off lookang in a music shop.

www.elfa.co.nz

and the second result on this page is the rockshop

www.google.co.nz

Yeah I've looked there. They have the old models, but I want the 192 specific model (latest and greatest)

Thanks anyway :)

611051 2007-11-13 04:09:00 I just emailed the rock shop, asking if they could reduce the price to match some of the sites in the us that have the same item listed. They replied:

Shaun,

Thanks for your email.

Those US sites aren't allowed to sell to Nzers because there is an
M-Audio supplier in NZ. The reason for price difference is that the US
retailers have better buy prices and a lot of advertising, warehousing,
repairing etc down for them by the supplier - things that cost money for
us to have here in NZ. Our RRPs which we advertise are set based on the
US RRP and I believe that in most cases, it's marginally cheaper here in
NZ at RRP.

However, it's one of those products that are close to the GST threshold,
so it's hit and miss whether you'll get charged it or not. Of course,
we get charged it with everyone we bring in.

There's no warranty on it either through the local NZ M-Audio supplier
... if that card arrives damaged, or develops a fault then you have to
send it back to the US. That's your cost there and your cost back. And
that's if they'll even look at it ... they might suggest that it was
damaged during installation. You can't prove that it wasn't ... it gets
tricky ... even if you use a computer store to install it.

At least with us, you can have it installed by one of our staff and
tested before you leave the shop (if you like).

The RRP is $349 on these and Rotorua do have one in stock, I can do one
for you for $296 ... it's not quite $60 but it's pretty darn good.

Sounds like a good deal, but I'm not too sure about the warranty thing... hmm. Any input here guys?

611052 2007-11-13 04:21:00 I'm not too sure if he is talking about the warranty if you bought it from the states or from them. Any way if you bought from NZ of course you have a warranty which is the Consumers Guaranttees Act (CGA).
