2007-11-18 12:06:00 | Recently limewire keeps opening up whenever i close it, turn on my computer etc etc. I even turned everything in the msconfig off. However, that didnt work. My Task manager does work, and nothing takes up near 100% CPU, only the system idle process. Its really bugging me now because on the other accounts on the computer it doesnt open up, i even created a new account for me and it still popped up -.-'' I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and still happens. However when i uninstalled it, a java notice came up saying like the installation process failed or something like that. Heres a picture of my task Manager: img249.imageshack.us Note: Im not running vista, im running XP its just a theme i use :) Thanks

2007-11-18 19:02:00 | Welcome To pressF1 - Open Limewire and look through the settings, someplace there is a tick box that says run at startup ( words to that effect) untick it. I can't look in the exact place as I don't use Limewire - to many "bugs". | wainuitech (129) | |
2007-11-18 21:26:00 | Vlasc, I'm having the same problem. Limewire will not stop opening, and task manager and regedit work fine. Nothing in the task manager takes up a lot of cpu except for the system idle process, which is normal. Tried uninstalling limewire and reinstalling; doesn't fix it. Tried uninstalling again and then running sypot s&d, ad aware, symantec antivirus, tuneup utilities, followed by reinstalling limewire, STILL get the same problem. I tried various other methods described on the net, and nothing. I'll try what wainuitech said and let you know if it works. | phazerxl (13042) | |
2007-11-18 21:28:00 | Or use another P2P program. Just dont use Azureus. Its known to crash a lot.

2007-11-18 22:02:00 | Azureus was always fine for me, but liked to trash my internet connection  If it was set to run at startup, then it would make sense, but there are a lot of viruses designed to spread through limewire, so it could be the virus trying to keep limewire open so it can upload itself to people and it probably only runs when limewire is closed, thus it may not be in task manager all the time... perhaps Run a virus scan (one of the online ones) Bitdefender online or Trend micro housecall might be a good idea
