| 611996 | 2007-11-16 06:29:00 | Is there a program which allows you to enter a windows product key and it will tell you which version of windows it's for? Why would you need such a thing? Every windows key is on a license or COA or the back of the disc case and this will say on it what version of Windows it is for. |

In this case I don't have either, I have gotten the key from the registry and decryption, I just have no idea which CD I need to use |

| 611999 | 2007-11-16 06:40:00 | Quick way to find out - Ghost a known OS say XP HM or PRO to another drive, same PC. ( Pro may be a bit fussy as to the product key - try HM) On the Ghosted drive run sysprep after a reboot within a couple of screens which take a round a minute or two it will ask for the new product key, enter it and see what happens. | wainuitech (129) | ||

| 612002 | 2007-11-19 18:16:00 | If you call MS with a product Key and asked what OS it was - more than likely they would say "look on the COA sticker" - and if you said you didn't have it - well I think you can guess the questions MS would start asking. Did you try the sysprep suggestion I made above ? |
