613327 2007-11-20 19:18:00 Morning All,

We have had a computer consultant in to work recently. Through the 'run' command he is entering the following

S:\z\mk

Where the "S" is our shared drive im assuming. Any idea wat the rest of this means or wat the command actually does?

Cheer

Or it may open a file called mk (with any extension) within the folder z.

613331 2007-11-20 19:53:00 Sorted Thanks,

Was running a .*bat file that then ran a program called SIW (http://www.gtopala.com/) that was storing snapshots of computers they were run on, ie: installed programs including serial keys etc, settings etc. Basically showing him EVERYTHING to do with each computer.

Not sure how kosher it is, but given the fact that our computer admin person didn't know it was happening rings alarm bells.......

613332 2007-11-20 23:06:00 to me it sounds like he was just running a command to get to a folder in a directory on the drive - eg to get to my games on my home PC i just click run and go "E:\GAMES" and it opens up the folder where i install my games - its quicker than clicking your way to it :p

i really dont see him doing anything wrong\bad - i do stuff like that all the time at work to get to network shares
