613225 2007-11-20 06:43:00 I have slight problem which i am not sure is PC releated or Website related.

I have one of those MySpace kinda profile at a public website and have setup a link on my profile to play a music file whenever someone brings up my profile in IE i.e have entered html code in my profile to play a file from one of the popular websites e.g www.imeem.com which normally gives links
below is just an e.g of the links

<object width="300" height="80"><param name="movie" value="media.imeem.com name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="media.imeem.com type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="300" height="80" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>

The problem is that when i view my profile as a webpage in IE from my laptop, the music plays fine from starting to end when i bring up my profile

However when i view my profile from another PC at home, the music plays from halfway and hence finishes soon.

I dont know why is this the case. Both PC's have IE 7 and i have cleared cache cookies etc on both!!

As you notice the file plays in flash player embedded on the website...Is it something to do with flash player ver ?? i dont know how this can be website issue since it plays fine on one PC

Any help on why this is the case? I am confused

I think you got a pretty good answer...if you try FF and you get the correct results, then you can pretty much trash IE..which in my opinion is ALWAYS a good idea.

look ........a large part of being a tech is using your logical deductive processes in a process of elimination.........

you didn't seem to like my reply which was exceptionally simple and would tell you immediately where the problem lay: the browser or the site....that's an excellent starting point

simple really.

I didnt say i dont like your reply did i?
All i said was does anyone have any other suggestions.

Of course i have taken what you suggested in account but i am willing to listen to any other ideas ppl may have. If none can suggest anything else then i will go ahead and try yours

BUT before going ahead and installing software, if some kind of setting check/tweak for IE/Flash Plugging would have fixed it - that would have been great !!...generally i dont prefer the idea to jump and just do installing or uninstalling of software on PC when something simple "may" resolve the issue without the need to add or remove stuff to the PC

613232 2007-11-20 23:58:00 it may take quite a bit of fidding around to identify that elusive 'something simple' .......my suggestion would immediately identify the problem area ...then you can start with the rest of the diagnostics. And indeed assuming you have broadband it'd take you about 1& 1/2 mins to download and install firefox.....and I dont usually make frivolous suggestions....only ones gained from several years of tech experience drcspy (146)
613233 2007-11-21 01:25:00 Works fine for me in IE7 and FF2

Looks like you got something setup wrong? maybe some kinda of ad/script block is stuffing the site up?
