| 613174 | 2007-11-20 01:15:00 | Long story cut short Bought a 3Com wireless ADSL Router for my cousin Configured it all correctly, its powering on fine, username / pwd are fine, adsl light is shining on the front of it but not the "online" light (Coz its not getting an IP, only the adsl signal im guessing) Rang Xtra (His ISP, not mine) and double-checked ALL the settings Did a factory reset and its still not working after Ive re-set it up. So its 'connecting' to the exchange but just not getting an IP from what I can gather... And yes, double-checked the username / password format etc, its all fine :) Any ideas what may be causing it? |

| 613175 | 2007-11-20 20:25:00 | I had a similar problem a few weeks ago on a client's site . The modem had been working fine for months then it stopped . ADSL but no authentication . XTRA were saying the problem wasn't at their end but after pushing it up the food chain, and some delay, they did sort it out . Don't know what the problem was - just relieved it was fixed . As an aside, don't you hate the standard 'reset to factory' advice? This now means that, for a previously working system, you add several new setup error possibilities that weren't there before!
