2007-11-19 23:08:00 | "Devices or applications disabled. CD Recording software will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading. Click here for more details." For some reason this error won't go away, and this computer never had Easy CD Creator installed at any point. I really don't know what is going on. Can anyone help? Thanks.

2007-11-19 23:37:00 | I looked in the event log but there was a lot of error and warnings. I think this is the one: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Popup Event Category: None Event ID: 876 Description: The description for Event ID ( 876 ) in Source ( Application Popup ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: , Cdr4vsd.SYS. Data: 0000: 00 00 10 00 02 00 74 00 ......t. 0008: 00 00 00 00 6c 03 00 c0 ....l..À 0010: 00 00 00 00 6c 03 00 c0 ....l..À 0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0028: 2c ba 80 4a d9 73 dd 49 ,º€JÙsÝI 0030: 91 c3 75 d0 b7 cf 2c 87 ‘ÃuзÏ,‡ No idea what that means, but I recognise the "Cdr4vsd.SYS". There is no entry from the source Service Control Manager. Using XP Pro.

2007-11-19 23:49:00 | It looks like that Cdr4vsd.sys was part of some version of CD Creator, and it was installed at some point. And it may have been uninstalled, but this file is still there. Search for Cdr4vsd.sys if its there, rename it to Cdr4vsd.sys.old. Or delete it in safe mode. Then reboot Or check control panel / admin tools / services. See if theres anything here to do with Roxio / cd creator. Disable it. If youre not using it. What entries are in msconfig?? Your startup. There must be something here. Thats trying to run / load it.

2007-11-21 06:43:00 | I found the file and renamed it. The error is gone now. Another problem though: it won't read CDs at all. Is it because something is physically wrong with the drive? Thanks for the help! :D

2007-11-21 07:03:00 | Sounds like it. Is Windows detecting this burner at all? Look in control panel / admin tools / services / Imapi cd-burning. Is this on manual?? What kind of cd's are you talking about. CD's that have something on them (like the XP cd). Or blank cd's??

2007-11-21 09:01:00 | The Imapi CD-burning com service is on manual -- what does that mean? They're burned CDs. Has stuff on them but the drive doesn't detect it and if I open it, it just shows blank. Thank you!

2007-11-21 09:17:00 | The Imapi service is used, if u use XP's built in burning. Are you usaing CDR's or RW's?? Or DVD blanks? Did u use XP's built in burning or something like Nero?
