613390 2007-11-23 20:24:00 My router probably fends off most inbound attacks, so really the main thing comodo does for me is outbound - which I must say it does very very well.

It was actually the scarily BAD performance of my NIS2005 with the firewall leaktest that made me realise that I needed a better firewall, and Comodo is excellent.

If some dodgy program wants to try and send your info somewhere without asking, you're going to know about it because comodo will tell you.

613391 2007-11-23 22:11:00 Good to read everyone's reviews, since the 2.4 version I have seems to be working OK on XP for months. Funny how they did not have updates (like antivirus programs) for months on end, and now it seems, a significant upgrade... kahawai chaser (3545)
613392 2007-11-23 22:47:00 Most probably coz its got a new interface, and its totally different from 2.4

And there's more in it, than 2.4.

Which is why its bigger than 2.4 as well.

Altho, there have been probs with version 3 (on their forum).

Since V3 has come out, a new version / update has been released.

If it was easier to add ports, I would use it.

2.4 was easier with adding ports, (but got annoying), now you'll have to figure out where, and how to do it in V3

613393 2007-11-23 22:48:00 3 isn't an update, it's a whole new program version.

2.4 was fine, I had to get rid of it though as it conflicted with NOD32, but since 3 has more features it doesn't matter

Otherwise 2.4 was still awesome

613394 2007-11-24 06:30:00 And if you do decide to install V3, take note:

From the Comodo forum.

It may not work properly with Windowblinds, or any of these programs that patch uxtheme.dll

2 of these problems seem to be recurring. Here are the temporary fixes until we update the executables:

1 - cmdagent.exe 100% CPU consumption:

This has been verified and fixed with the upcoming update. It is related to patched uxtheme.dll.

However, until the updates are issued the temporary fix is disabling the registry protection :

* Defense+->Advanced->Defense+ Settings->Monitor Settings
* Uncheck "Protected Registry Keys"
* Press Apply and restart

2 - System Slowdown issue :
It is related to the load on comodo lookup servers.

Online file lookup must be disabled

* Miscellaneous->Settings->Update
* Uncheck "Automatically perform an online lookup for the unrecognized files" option
* Press Apply button

Both 1 & 2 should solve the most of the problems.

3 - Email client problems

* Firewall->Tasks->Stealth Ports Wizard
* Select "Alert me to incoming connections"

Then Protocol analysis should be disabled.

* Firewall->Advanced->Attack Detection Settings->Miscellanous
* Uncheck "Do protocol analysis" option

It says today on the forum, which may mean yesterday. I dont know.

It doesnt say if this is related to the version that originally came out, or the new version 3.0.13.268

613395 2007-11-24 20:36:00 I've been using Comodo for the past month now (via RCs and betas) and it's been working great. It's a little needy when asking about Windows services and modifying files but otherwise fine.

I did have a problem when the update for the final version came out. Just open the program and manually click 'check for updates' as opposed to letting it do it automatically.
