613656 2007-11-21 06:06:00 i wanted to know if there are any good media file converters for free and not online because i have dial up.
because i wanted to watch a video on my xbox 360 from my usb drive but it only supports wmv. i thought it might work if i changed the extention but that just ruined it

613658 2007-11-21 06:27:00 one of them is avi and the other ones mpeg nerd (109)
613659 2007-11-21 06:48:00 You can try this Here (www.stoik.com) it is a download - the free version, may do what you want.

Any video converters I use are all paid for. Don't know how well the one above works its still a 7Mb download though.

What other media software do you have installed on the PC ?

UPDATE: just converted a 30 second clip of my dog from mpg to wmv worked perfectly using that program above.

613660 2007-11-21 07:49:00 There is a universal command-line media converter called FFMpeg.

Very simple to use - at the command line (Start>Run>cmd>Enter) type
the directory containing the FFMPEG.EXE file, press Enter than on the next line type the following:

ffmpeg <source file>.<extension> -i <output file>.wmv

and press Enter.

This will convert the video to convert basically any media format, including WMV.

Download from Here (ffdshow.faireal.net).

Hope this helps.

613664 2007-11-23 01:11:00 Uninstall it and get something better then.

Nothing wrong with Super.

You'll have to get it online, since you havent got a program already.
