| 614047 | 2007-11-22 18:49:00 | I have just reinstalled windows xp but now everytime i turn on it says i boot from cd!! it think its something to do with the bios menu but i cant get into it because theres a password is there anyway i can get into this?? or stop this boot from cd another way? | bjw90 (13029) | ||
| 614048 | 2007-11-22 19:17:00 | To remove the password for the BIOS you can do two things, with the PC turned off Open the case and look for the CMOS battery, pop it out and leave it for around 30 minutes, put it back and hopefully the time will have been enough to reset back to default - some take longer some take shorter times. Usually by the CMOS battery, will be a set of Jumpers, either 2 or 3 pins ( check the MB Manual first) if two pins, put a jumper on them count to 10 and remove the jumper, that will rest the BIOS, or if it has 3 pins with a jumper on pins 1-2 for example, remove the jumper and place it on pins 2-3. leave a few seconds, replace the jumper back to how it was, should clear any settings.
