613851 2007-11-21 21:39:00 I bought a new Ethernet adaptor and installed it ok, updated drivers to windows compatible ones and all. But still it won't work. In device manager it says the device won't start (code 10).

I installed the realtek vista diagnostic and it keeps telling me to install the correct drivers which I'm sure I have.

The card I'm using is

Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI gibabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)

613852 2007-11-21 21:49:00 I take it, it came with drivers on cd or something??

WHERE (if u didnt get a CD), did u get the drivers from?

Try deleting that entry and reboot.

See if that fixes it.

613853 2007-11-21 21:51:00 Yeah, the drivers on the cd weren't compatible with Vista so I looked up new drivers from Realtek and installed those. When they didn't work I did more googling and installed the ones here: www.driverzone.com which happened to be exactly the same. not.my.s0ck (10995)
613854 2007-11-21 21:56:00 So, were the drivers from Realtek Vista compatible??

If not, then you cant use that NIC.

Is the onboard NIC stuffed, or doesnt it have an onboard NIC?

613855 2007-11-21 22:00:00 What is a 'NIC'? And yeah theyre specific Vista drivers or thats the impression I was given. Its a brand new card and windows can't find anything wrong with it not.my.s0ck (10995)
613856 2007-11-21 22:01:00 NIC = that network card. Speedy Gonzales (78)
613857 2007-11-21 22:08:00 How can I fix the problem? If there are vista compatible drivers then surely it must work right? not.my.s0ck (10995)
613858 2007-11-21 22:16:00 Hmmm, and this is the file you downloaded? (ftp://202.65.194.212/cn/nic/Install_Vista_6198_1022.zip)

Must have a readme or something in it, to say HOW to install it.
Speedy Gonzales (78)
613859 2007-11-21 22:19:00 It just installs itself when you click setup, recognises the card and everything. When I go to device manager it has it updated.

I'm not sure but I dont think it would be a problem with the driver. The manual says that it could be a resource issue but I have no idea how to solve that
