615336 2007-11-26 06:11:00 Hi
We're having problems with “new” (secondhand) PC. It's shutting down at random and displaying error msg:

NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity error

Manual says memory modules (there are two 1GB memory sticks) should be installed in memory module connectors 1 and 2 which are in separate pairs of connectors. However, the two mem sticks are installed side-by-side in connectors 1 and 3. Is this likely cause of the error? Thanks.

615337 2007-11-26 06:18:00 One problem can be hardware failure See this article (support.microsoft.com) Also read This Forum (forums.scotsnewsletter.com) Post #3.

Download memtest from my sig, unzip it and burn the ISO to a CD, ( image burner in my sig also if needed) Boot from the CD & run a memory test - and work through the form post above in the second link.
