Also the Atheros wireless LAn has stopped working.....im kinda at a loss because im not sure if all this is covered in the warranty (DSE dont comment i know....bad) i can really use the laptop as the hardware appears to be giving out.....i brought it in April any help would be great Thanks |

| 614716 | 2007-11-25 09:14:00 | Acer seems to be the problem this weekend :D - If there is any sort of warranty issue Acers first responce is "reinstall the OS back to factory install - using the recovery Disc's or from the recovery partition - then if it still plays up call us back" Being purchased in April its still under warranty - make a claim, dont try fixing it yourself. If components are failing as it sounds like they are and you "Fiddle" this may cause them to say the warranty Voided as you did the damage. Going by your post I assume you used the Acer recovery CD'S / DVD ? If so >>>>>>>>>>>Call Acer Acer Contact Details (www.acer.co.nz) Technical support. Talk to them, tell them what its doing and they will advise you correctly. Ignore DSE - they are -------- well Better not swear :rolleyes: ;) :xmouth: |

| 614718 | 2007-11-25 17:46:00 | Aheeeem, if I understand things correctly here, you had XP on the machine, you upgraded to Vista and the computer couldnt handle Vista, so you wish to return to XP. Well, youve wasted you money buying another copy of XP because its already on a hidden partition on your Hard Disk along with all the specialised Drivers. One of which may be the power set-up. Now that youve got a holy mess, Id be inclined to start again, but be warned, the following will return the machine to the state it was in when leaving the factory so anything and everything youve added will be goooone! I hope you have backups or can get backups for all your work and programmes. If you want to restore, do this. At first sighting of the ACER splash-screen hold down the Alt key and tap F10. You should get the ACER recovery screen There you will find an option to return to Factory Settings. Click that and if youre asked for a password enter Six zeros, if that doesnt work try three Zeros and if that doesnt work try four zeros, if that doesnt work enter the computer name, (To find this right click My Computer, left click properties and it should be there, better do that first before you start unless you know it), and finally if this doesnt work ring Acer. :D In the event that all goes well, you should have a nice new computer in about half an hour. However, being ACER and being a model Im not familiar with, I offer no guarantees. :D Good Luck |

You can only but try - but it should be covered as long as its not obvious damage like a cut mark as if something had been dropped on it and cut it for example. | wainuitech (129) | ||
| 614721 | 2007-11-25 20:12:00 | So what did you do to wipe the partition? :blush: | B.M. (505) | ||
