control panel - power options - choose or customise a power plan, Balanced hilghted.
the problem. From "sleep" (overnight spell) to wakeup next day (hit enter) it takes more than 5 minutes to show the desktop - from "restart" to desktop 3mins 15secs - seems to be a ridiculously long time. Settings now are:-choose what the power buttons do, then click - heading, define power buttons and turn on password settings - power button/shut down - sleep button/hibernate. down, no password. down, tick fast startup and hibernate - save changes - back to choose or customise a power plan with "balanced"(recommended) hilighted - I hope this is clear to understand!! are there better options?

1421369 2016-06-02 22:38:00 try..

disable fast startup option , that can slow down the startup.:badpc:
www.howtogeek.com

disable hybernate option .

Also , does this happen every time, or just sometimes. Win may be loading updates, or if you have AV it may have gone bad or maybe trying to do a scan on each startup (less likely)

1421370 2016-06-02 23:31:00 Hi 1101, thanks for that, disabled both - occurs after a long "sleep", I'll monitor it during the day jayal (1291)
1421371 2016-06-03 00:40:00 Another you can use to speed things up, disable the notifications. Start/Settings/System/Notifications and Actions - On the right disable all the notifications. This is will also works very well for the problem with 100% dsk usage. wainuitech (129)
1421372 2016-06-03 08:56:00 during the day the system works reasonably well, like not too slow - have made the changes Wainuitech so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to see what affects those changes have made - so, to Wainui & 1101, thanks for your suggestions. Looking forward to some good news in the morning jayal (1291)
1421373 2016-06-03 21:27:00 seems to be worse, 6mins.20secs then a couple of flashes. no desk top yet, had an open window of an email, closed hat and desktop open. Maybe I should forget sleep/hibernate or what and always have the screen active, maybe add a screen saver jayal (1291)
1421374 2016-06-03 23:53:00 apparently the sleep option is better than hibernate. In shutdown settings - turn on fast start up - hibernate - lock
there's no sleep option available!!??
